UMMC Internal Funding Opportunities
Intramural Research Support Program
The objective of the program is to strengthen the biomedical research environment at the University of Mississippi Medical Center through the use of flexible funds that enable faculty to respond quickly and effectively to emerging opportunities and unpredictable circumstances that develop during the course of active research programs. The highest priority for awards will be those projects that are most competitive for future extramural funding. Applications are solicited in two cycles each year, a spring and a fall cycle
Deadline for Cycle II Applications: September 2013
The IRSP provides support in the form of 12-month awards of $30,000 or less to members of the UMC faculty to pursue a research project.
Grants are awarded in the following three categories:
- Initial Research Support for New and Newly Relocated Investigators
- Pilot Research
- Emergency Support
Things to note
No awards will be made for faculty salary or travel expenses.
Protocols must be submitted to the respective committee by the application deadline. Selected awardees will be allowed only 30 days after the anticipated award date to obtain assurance approvals.
The Office of Research will accept completed applications through 5 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013. Direct questions about the program or the application and review process to Office of Research (ext. 5-5000).
The Center of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics is available to address the statistical needs of your IRSP application. For each hour of service that you include in your application, the Center will match these hours. For example, if you request 5 hours of work, you will receive 10 hours of work from one of our statisticians or bioinformaticians. Please approach the biostatisticians and bioinformaticians no later than one month before you plan to submit your application. Contact Sondra Redmont (4-2705) to schedule an appointment.
